2006-Oct-29: Ecce Cor Meum Premieres on Friday

On Friday of this week, Sir Paul's new classical work, Ecce Cor Meum receives its premiere at London's royal Albert Hall. Sir Paul will be seated in one of the velvet-draped boxes beside his children Stella, Mary, and James. Also expected to attend the premiere that evening are P Diddy, Tony Bennett and possibly Madonna, a close friend of his daughter Stella, Kate Moss, with her boyfriend Pete Doherty, as well as the musician and TV presenter Jools Holland.

A McCartney insider is quoted as saying:

"It will undoubtedly be a very poignant occasion. Everyone will be rallying round."

During rehearsals Ecce Cor Meum last week, Sir Paul told USA Today, Sir Paul that he hoped for a peaceful end to his divorce proceedings:

"It's a very difficult time for me, but with the support of my friends and family, I'm managing to get through. I'm just hoping for a happy resolution, particularly for the sake of our beautiful daughter, Beatrice, and my other children."

Sir Paul told USA Today that Ecce Cor Meum was eight years in the making. The work was inspired by, and dedicated to Linda:

"When Linda died, the piece stopped. After a few months of grieving, I managed to get back in and pick it up. I remember sitting at the keyboards, crying - more like weeping, actually. It was kind of therapeutic. I still find it a very sad piece of music, but in an uplifting way."
