Americans are showing their support for Sir Paul during this difficult period of his life. Sir Paul seemed shocked when after enjoying a quiet meal at the Il Gattopardo Italian restaurant in New York city, all the people in the restaurant rose to give him a rapturous standing ovation when he stood up to leave. Well-wishers shouted words of support to him, such as "We are with you all the way, Paul!"
The following day in New Jersey, Sir Paul felt compelled to stop his car to conduct an unplanned press conference where he assured his fans:
"Look, I am doing just fine. I just need some time to myself."
