It has been announced that Sir Paul is currently in negotiations to be the star attraction at Liverpool's Capital of Culture in England events in May, 2008. McCartney "and friends" will perform a hometown concert at the city's King's Dock. The story was leaked by Mike Storey, Liverpool's cabinet member for special initiatives. During a meeting with some accountants, Mr. Storey told them:
"We desperately want an opening event with Sir Paul McCartney and that negotiation is happening and I tell you it will happen. It will be Paul McCartney and friends."
If the concert does indeed take place, it would be a major event for the Liverpool in 2008.
