The Beatles Files is a remarkable photographic chronology of the most
exciting music phenomenon the world has ever seen; the book features hundreds of
photographs-the majority previously unpublished-taken for Britain's best-selling popular
newspaper of the sixties, the Daily Mirror.

The Beatles Files is a milestone in the history of Beatles-related publishing: it
showcases hundreds of the best photos from an archive that has remained - incredibly -
largely unknown and unexploited since the Fab Four's split in 1970.
Throughout the sixties Britain's most popular newspaper,
the Daily Mirror, kept a close eye on The Beatles' career, assigning its best staff
photographers to record the group's every move.
The Mirror's twenty-strong team of photographers -
considered to be among London's finest photo-journalists - photographed the group on
hundreds of separate occasions, from Beatlemania to bust-up: in "official" and
in candid, off-guard shoots at concerts and rehearsals, at airports and receptions, and at
parties, "happenings" and even on vacations.
Only a handful of these pictures were ever printed at the
time-most lay undeveloped, gathering dust in unmarked boxes at the Mirror's archives.
Once developed, these negatives proved to be a
treasure-trove of pin-sharp images spanning the group's career. The Beatles Files is a
selection of some 400 of the very best photos from this amazing collection.
With the photos arranged on a chronological basis and with
a fast-moving text based on Mirror and other press reports of the day, The Beatles Files
is a remarkable tribute to the most successful pop musicians of all time.
The Author
Andy Davis' love affair with The Beatles began in 1976, when he was given a copy of Sgt.
Pepper and read in the News of the World that "Paul McCartney was the only one who
found happiness." He began reading The Beatles Book Monthly to discover more and was
surprised to find himself, sixteen years later, becoming the magazine's News Editor.
Andy is now on the staff of Record Collector magazine, to which he contributes features on music history; he has also edited the magazine's Rare Record Price Guide 2000. He lives in London, England.
