Submit Material for this Site

ATTENTION: EMAIL ADDRESS HAS BEEN CHANGED!

I'm always looking for new stuff to be added to this site. You should know, however, that I still have piles of submissions (dating back until 1997) which is yet to be added - so I have not run out of material yet. Definitely, it is a good idea to write and ask first before sending stuff I already have on file.

If you really want to help me with this site, please do send a ready-to-be-published HTML page, not just a plain tracklisting. For this purpose, I have created two HTML Templates:

• HTML Template for Bootleg CDs (15KB; right-click and "save as")
• HTML Template for Bootleg CD-Rs (15KB; right-click and "save as")
• Both Templates in one ZIP file (4KB)

Please note that the HTML files contain a lot of useful comments of what you should do and what not. They probably work best with FrontPage or FrontPage Express (comes with recent MS Office packages). Please do follow the rules from the comments in these files!

Scans:
With each submission, send as many as you can/have.
I'm more than happy to accept your high-resolution scans (but no more than 300dpi please), but these shall only be uploaded by FTP, and must not be sent by email. I can easily down-size them to whatever resolution I need. You should be aware that downsizing can result in grainy bad looking effects which are no good. Ulead PhotoImpact, Adope Photoshop (use bi-cubic interpolation) and recent versions of PaintShop Pro (use resample, not resize) will lead to good results. Save in JPG format with a reasonable compression
If you want to send ready-to-be-published scans, follow the rules on downsizing above, and send them with a height of exactly 320 pixels, and perfectly cropped and aligned.

File Format for Scans: JPG. Follow the naming conventions from the comments of the HTML templates. And use lower-case letters only.

Uploading your submissions

*** FTP UPLOADING IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE! ***

There are two possibilities:

• This is the mandatory procedure for sending high-resolution scans (also accompanied by their corresponding html files, of course)
  Upload the html files and scans to my FTP Server (either by using a special FTP program like Cute FTP, or by using the ftp command that comes with the operating system). Here's some step-by-step procedure for the latter:
  1. open a MS-DOS command window
  2. make sure you are in the directory from where you want to send the files. If not, use "cd c:\from_dir" to enter this directory (replace from_dir appropriately)
  3. start ftp by entering "ftp"
  4. enter "open ftp.gernhardt.com"
  5. it prompts for a username. Enter "ftp"
  6. it prompts for a password. Enter your email address
  7. enter "cd incoming"
  8. enter "bin" to set the transmission mode accordingly
  9. upload all your files with either the "put filename" command, or e.g the "mput *.jpg" which will send multiple files (and prompt for a "y" for each file; this can be overridden by issuing a "prompt" command before you do the "mput")
  10. You can always do a "dir" to see what you've uploaded
  11. After you're finished, please do send an email to and tell me what you have uploaded (IMPORTANT for me, since I've already lost track with some uploads, especially since they were scans only)
  12. Entering "quit" will close the ftp connection
      
• This is the optional method for submissions of smaller size (JPGs not larger than 30-50KB each)
  • send your HTML file and scans as attachments to .

Stuff already submitted but not added yet

This is very incomplete: But I've got on file The Lennon Journals, and Another Phase, to name a few. Do not re-send them!

WANTED: Scans (4 May 2000)

I probably already have very few of these. At least, this are all web pages from my site that don't have scans yet. If you have additional scans to pages that already have one cover scan, please write first to make sure I don't already have these scans (I have many on file).
