In spite of the fact that Sir Paul's draft manuscript of Hey Jude had to be pulled from the bidding, (see April 29) Christie's pop memorabilia auction raised $776,000. According to Sarah Hodgson, Christie's head of popular entertainment, "The sale has proved to be the most successful pop sale held at Christie's in London."Some rare cassette recordings by John Lennon (see April 5) sold for $195,200. A collector paid $109,631 for the tape of John singing nursery rhymes with his stepdaughter Kyoko. The same bidder paid $85,610 for a 25 minute demo recording of She Said, She Said.
