The Aberdeen Press and Journal reports that Sir Paul took time out from his honeymoon to come to the aid of some needy animals. The Willows Animal Sanctuary recently received a a £1,000 check from Sir Paul accompanied by a note that said that he had heard good words about the Willows from his friend Melody and that "I hope this will help you continue your great work".
This was Sir Paul's second donation to the sanctuary. Back in November, 2000, he had sent them £5,000 in Linda's memory as part of his Animal's Angel project. (see November 24, 2000) At the time, Sir Paul had heard the sad story of Humphrey the donkey from some friends. They had found the old donkey neglected, injured, and abandoned in a field in Aberdeenshire. They had taken the poor animal to be cared for at the Willows sanctuary. Kate Robinson of the sanctuary recalls,
"Humphrey was brought to us about two years ago by friends of Paul and it is fantastic that he still helps us with the work we do. Every donation is highly appreciated."
