A note handwritten by Sir Paul to an old family friend back in the 1960s was sold yesterday for $3,350 Swindon's Dominic Winter Book Auctions. According to Richard Westwood-Brookes of Swindon's Dominic Winter Book Auctions, such quotations are "extremely rare."The note is unique in that contains these opening lines of Penny Lane:
"In Penny Lane there's a barber showing photographs of every head he's had the pleasure to have known, and all the people that come and go, stop and say hello."Sir Paul closed the note with the words, "All the best to Dad xxx."
