(updated November 20) Following in the footsteps of her mother, Britain's most famous vegetarian and animal rights campaigner) Stella McCartney has submitted a proposal to the Wychavon District Council transform her 200 year old, 271 acre working farm into a wildlife haven.Stella plans to plant 2,000 willows and other vegetation to encourage wildlife ranging from birds to butterflies. She also plans to construct a water purification system on the land surrounding her Georgian mansion in Bishampton, near Evesham. The project will involve digging up the grounds to install six pond areas connected by a network of pipes allowing Stella to flush her bath, sink and toilet water straight into the garden. According to a spokesman for the Environment Agency:
"All her waste water will be pumped into willow and reed beds where it will be purified naturally. It may smell a bit but, installed properly, it is an effective, environmentally sound system. She plans to create her very own wetland woodland."A Wychavon District Council spokesman states:."We have never had an application like this but at first glance it looks a great idea. Stella is obviously environmentally conscious and, if her plans go ahead, she will have a wildlife haven in her back garden."It is unique but also very sustainable and ecologically friendly. I cannot imagine she will have any trouble getting it approved."
