In an article appearing in today's Daily Mail, Sir Paul addresses his daughter Stella's remarks about being educated in a public school (see March 29). Sir Paul said the expense of a private school education was not an issue. Rather, he and Linda sent their children to a public school in an effort to prevent them from becoming spoiled. Sir Paul thinks that Stella was joking in her interview:"Apparently she was talking about me sending them to a council school instead of a posh one. But it wasn't my decision. It was a mum and dad decision and Stella hasn't done badly by it. I'm really not that tight. We were careful to send them to a normal school and have any of that stuff kicked out of them in the playground - and they were fine."In a BBC Radio 2 interview, Sir Paul revealed that he also refused to buy Stella a luxurious car for her 18th birthday:"I remember on her 18th birthday she wanted a car so I said I'd look at a second-hand one. Ringo had a right go at me. He said, 'Buy her a Porsche, go on, buy her one'. But I told him, 'no' because how many other kids have a Porsche?"The truth of it is, I didn't want to spoil my kids because if you've got money, you end up with spoilt brats running around."
