While in St. Petersburg, Russia, Sir Paul participated in the opening of a modern sound recording studio for musically gifted children. The studio, located in the former stables of the Menshikov palace on Vasilyevsky Island, was built with funds from the Menshikov Foundation. During his visit, the children of the St. Petersburg boarding school No. 38 sang Beatles songs for Sir Paul.
