As reported earlier, Sir Paul hosted a party for friends and family at the Cavern Club this evening. (see May 31). According to the club's owner, Bill Heckle:"We were approached a couple of months ago but received confirmation that he would be performing just a few weeks ago. We were told that, if the gig got out, it would be canceled immediately. The club's bar manager, Steve Marsh, added:"Paul said he had enjoyed performing at The Cavern so much in 1999 that he wanted to return to mark the end of his world tour.
"He was really dancing the night away and enjoying every minute of the evening. He was incessantly on the dance floor with Heather."
"It was a fantastic night. Paul and Heather were up dancing and looked like they were having a great time. When they walked in, Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice was playing and Paul was straight on the dance floor. We used military precision to keep the thing quiet, people were told on a need-to-know basis."
