2003-Jul-06: Meeting Sir Paul in Dublin

Today''s Salt Lake City, Utah's Desert News  reports today on how local residents Noel Larson and Geoff Lissaman spent some time with Sir Paul during his concert tour stop in  Dublin, Ireland.                        

Mr. Larson, a former musician, is now an expert in amplified sound.  He sponsored a promotion in which portions of the proceeds from the sale of  dbx DriveRack loudspeaker control systems  would be donated to the McCartney's Adopt-A-Minefiled charity.  Mr. Larson traveled to Dublin to present Sir Paul with a check for $20,000 that he earned for Adopt-A-Minefield.  "Great work, boys, thanks a bunch", Sir Paul told Mr. Larson and his friend Mr. Lissaman.  In his line of work, Mr. Larson has met most every big name in the rock 'n' roll.  However, he says:

"I don't think I've ever turned into a goober like I  did  with McCartney.  He's about as big as you get."

During the  1 1/2 hour sound check at RDS (Royal Dublin  Society) Stadium,  Sir Paul honored Mr. Larson's request to hear Coming Up.   Later the gentlemen sat front and center for the concert:.  Mr. Lissaman described Sir Paul saying:

"He's witty, he's funny, very real through the whole  thing  and he just plays one great tune after another."                       

  Mr. Lissaman, who claims not be be a Beatles or McCartney fan, had met Sir Paul before:

"Every time I meet him it's interesting.  You don't have to be Catholic to be impressed by meeting the pope. (McCartney) never ceases to amaze me.  This was an opportunity to put something together where dbx won and a cool charity won,"
