Sir Paul returned to London's Abbey Road for a top-secret performance. Sir Paul and his band ( including Travis frontman Fran Healey) performed a one-and-a-half hour concert for a select group of 50 people. One lucky audience member told the Mirror:
"I thought it would be about 300 or 400 people, but there were only 50 people in there sitting on sofas. I couldn't believe it, I was so close to him. At one stage[during Fine Line] he handed out maracas and tambourines and invited the audience to join in."
The set list contained classic Beatles tunes along with eight new songs from his forthcoming Chaos And Creation In The Back Yard album:
Friends To Go
In Spite Of All The Danger
Twenty Flight Rock
Things We Said Today
Too Much Rain
How Kind Of You
Band On The Run
Fine Line
Lady Madonna
English Tea
Heartbreak Hotel
Jenny Wren
I've Got A Feeling Follow Me
Blackbird
Mellotron samples / Strawberry Fields Forever
AnywayDuring the session, Sir Paul and his album producer, Nigel Godrich, wrote and recorded an all-new song based on Blue Suede Shoes.
The concert will be aired in September on BBC Radio 2's Sold on Song.
