XM Satellite Radio, America's largest satellite radio service, recently welcomed Sir Paul to their Washington D.C. studios for the taping of their interview and performance program Artist Confidential before a live studio audience. During the interview, Sir Paul offered some unique insights into his life and work. He described his passion for song writing as "a compulsion" and demonstrated how he can take a few notes from his head and transform them a song. He also discussed other inspirations for his songs such as Yesterday coming to him in a dream ("that was a pretty good dream," he joked) and how a piece by Bach served as an inspiration for the melody to Blackbird. During the program he also performed live acoustic renditions of How Kind of You, Fine Line,and Follow Me" from his new album.
