2005-Dec-06: Sir Paul's 1979 Plans to Reunite the Beatles

As the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death approaches this week (December 8) it has been revealed that Sir Paul had signed a contract with CBS Records with the intention of reuniting the Beatles. The $10.8 million contract with CBS Records signed by Sir Paul on New Year's Day, 1979 signified a break with the band's former label, Capitol Records. The wording of the contract states that CBS would see Sir Paul, "John Lennon, Richard Starkey and George Harrison recording together as The Beatles". A former Capitol Records employee, who has seen the contract, told the press, "This is the earliest evidence of any Beatle making formal overtures toward a reunion."
