2005-Dec-15: The Waterstone Book Signing

One McCartney fan is sporting an unusual tattoo on his arm - Sir Paul's autograph! During the Waterstone, Piccadilly, book signing, the fan asked Sir Paul to sign his arm, then he ran off to the tattoo parlor to make it permanent.

At Waterstone's, Sir Paul read excerpts from his book to a group of school children. The class had won a competition to attend the event and to have the opportunity to ask questions. One little girl asked: "How old were you when you started writing children's books?" Sir Paul replied:

"Well, it was 10 years ago, so I was 53. You'd think I'd have got round to it before that, but I was very busy writing songs."

A little boy asked, "Where did you get the characters from?" Sir Paul replied that he just made them up:

"'I start by thinking of a bit of the story and then my friend Geoff draws a picture of what it might look like."

Sir Paul went on to explain that he started with Wirral (the place where his father lived) and that rhymed with squirrel, and the story went on from there. Sir Paul added that the story started out to be a film, but later he decided to turn it into a book.
