A McCartney family spokesman has confirmed that Sir Paul's wife, Heather, will be checking into a top London hospital later this month to undergo some remedial surgery. After being hit by a police motorbike in 1994, Heather not only lost her her leg, but she also suffered a shattered pelvis. The metal plate installed at the time to hold her pelvis in place was forced out of position during her 2003 pregnancy. Since giving birth to baby Beatrice, Heather has suffered constant pain (see January 23, 2004). Heather's doctors have advised her to get the the damaged plate replaced by a state-of-the-art lightweight titanium model soon as possible. According to the McCartney spokesman:
"She is booked into hospital to have some remedial work because the baby put pressure on her pelvis when she was pregnant and it has been causing her discomfort ever since. She should not be in hospital for too long but she will need to take quite a few weeks off work after the operation, and Heather is not the sort of person who likes to take things easy."Heather traveled with Sir Paul during his recent North American's tour. Her spokesman stated:
"She found all the traveling between cities very difficult. Paul was really worried about her but she refused to leave him, so they consulted doctors out in the States who advised her to have the surgery as soon as possible."
