Fans of Sir Paul may recall that during the 1960s, Sir Paul wrote some tunes for the brother of his girl friend, Jane Asher. Peter Asher and Gordon Waller went on to have nine Top-40 hits, four of which were McCartney tunes: "A World Without Love", "Nobody I Know", "I Don't Want to See You Again", and "Woman". The duo known as Peter and Gordon recently performed a reunion concert for over 3,000 fans attending the 32nd Beatles fan convention in the Grand Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza hotel at Giant Stadium just outside New York City. The host and one of the organizers of the event, radio personality Martin Lewis, mentioned the reunion to Sir Paul backstage at the Grammy Award ceremony last February. He said that Sir Paul was delighted to hear the news that his old friends would be performing together for the first time in 39 years. During the concert, Mr. Lewis surprised the duo and their audience by reading this message from Sir Paul:
"What the world needs now is Peter & Gordon to sing their songs and remind us all of the fab years they are from. I’m very glad to hear that they have got together after these many moons and are going to help to make a world without love into a love-filled planet."
