This autumn, we can look forward to a new classical McCartney album entitled Ecce Cor Meum [Behold My Heart]. Sir Paul has worked for eight years on the full-length choral and orchestral work was commissioned by Oxford’s Magdalen College in honor of the college's new concert hall. In a statement released today, Sir Paul said that this album is much more complex than his three other previously released classical albums:
"Eventually I made it all come together through correcting some misapprehensions. If it had been a Beatles song I would have known how to do it. But this was a completely different ball game."
Ecce Cor Meum is an oratorio in four movements, is scored for choir and orchestra with the text combining both English and Latin. Sir Paul learned Latin as a students at The Liverpool Institute High School for Boys:
"As Latin is known and sung by choirs all over the world, I felt it would be appropriate to use at times during the piece - a choral piece, which could be sung by young people the world over in the same way that Handel's Messiah is."Produced by John Fraser, Ecce Cor Meum is performed by soprano Kate Royal, The Boys of King's College Choir, Cambridge, The Boys Of Magdalen College Choir, Oxford and The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. The album will be released in late September
