2007-Jan-17: Finding Solace In His Music

The Daily Express reports that a McCartney source says that Sir Paul's next studio album will reflect his feelings about his bitter divorce battle with Heather Mills:

"Paul never stops writing songs and they often reflect what's going on in his life at the time, even during his days as a Beatle. It's now understood that tracks on his next album will include some direct references to his recent difficulties. He's also said to have written a song to his three-year-old daughter Beatrice, explaining to her how things turned out the way they did. Paul has been through a lot in his life and songwriting has long been a cathartic process."

An earlier report quoted another source as saying that Sir Paul has been writing an open-ended letter to Beatrice about the divorce and setting it to music:

“He is writing this down now so that, if she chooses to, she can read it when she is older. He wants her to understand what has happened from his point of view. Paul never imagined he would have a child who would grow up in an environment like this, at the center of a vicious divorce with an utterly divided mother and father. It has wrenched him in two. He fears that Heather is saying inappropriate things to Bea about him, and loading her with thoughts against her father. He has some evidence of this. He feels that because it was he who left Heather, and not the other way round, she can really load the situation against him in Bea’s mind and make him the reason it has all gone wrong. He is desperate that Bea understands what has been behind it. So it is very important to Paul that he gives Bea his side of the story; that she understands how it all went wrong and that he didn’t want her to suffer.”
