2007-Apr-04: The Concert for Diana

Britain's Princes William and Harry have invited Sir Paul perform at a concert this summer to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their mother's death. Today's Daily Mirror newspaper quotes a source as saying:

"The princes know they need to get artists who are loved around the world, but particularly in America, to ensure it's a truly worldwide event no one will forget. They would love it to be the biggest since Live 8 or Live Aid. They really want Justin [Timberlake] and Beyoncé [Knowles] to ensure there's massive coverage in the US. Paul would be the icing on the cake. He met Diana many times and is a living legend. He has been approached and is in talks. He could do something special, like lead a supergroup, just as he did with Bono to kick off Live 8."

The princes have also invited Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Kanye West, JamesBlunt, Meatloaf, Bryan Adams, Pharrell Williams, Orson, Joss Stone, Take That and Keane, Dire Straits, and the Spice Girls to perform.

The Concert for Diana is scheduled to take place in the new Wembley Stadium on July 1 which would have been Diana's 46th birthday.
