2007-Jun-29: Back on the Billboard Hot 100

Sir Paul's Dance Tonight has returned him to The Billboard Hot 100 at No. 69 this week with "Dance Tonight. Here are some interesting statistics:

- Dance Tonight is the first McCartney single to enter the chart since his 2004 collaboration with U2 on a remake of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

- Dance Tonight is the third McCartney song to appear on the Hot 100 in the 21st century. Freedom peaked at No. 97 in December 2001.

- Dance Tonight is the highest-charting solo McCartney single in the last 10 years. The World Tonight made it to No. 64 in May, 1997.

- Dance Tonight is his 45th entry on the Hot 100 in his post-Beatles career. That list of 45 singles began with the two-sided hit Another Day / Oh Woman Oh Why" in March,1971.

- Dance Tonight expands Sir Paul's post-Beatles chart span to 36 years and four months.

- As a member of the Beatles, Sir Paul's Hot 100 chart span is 43 years starting with I Want to Hold Your Hand in January, 1964.

- As a songwriter, Sir Paul' chart span on the Hot 100 goes back to the June, 1963 with Del Shannon’s version of From Me to You.

Memory Almost Full (which sold 161,000 albums) has earned Sir Paul his third best charting debut since SoundScan began tracking data in 1991. His only higher debuts came with 2002's Back in the U.S. Live 2002 (No. 8 - 224,000) and 2001's Wingspan: Hits and History (No. 2 - 221,000).
