Silly goose. When Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson had a hit together in the early 80's with "The Girl Is Mine", the ex-Beatle encouraged his junior partner to become involved in the music market. As a result, Jacko purchased the rights to the entire works of the Fab Four for almost 100 million German Marks (over $57 million).
"Before this I was made an offer of over $20 million, pennies!" Nevertheless McCartney declined and afterwards he was vehemently angry with his ex-friend about the deal.

Nach der Adelung druckte
ihm Gattin Linda Briefpapier

Cartney", doch der Ex-Beatle
rührt die nicht an. "Süß von
ihr, aber sie als Amerikane-
rin weiß nicht, was das ge-
nau bedeutet. Ich nehme das
nicht so ernst." Paul spielt
sogar schon mit dem Gedan-
ken, den Rittertitel wieder
abzulegen.

If you should ever happen to encounter Paul McCartney on the street - don't address him by the title conferred upon him by the Queen. He finds it embarrassing!
His wife Linda had the noble title imprinted on the letterhead of some notepaper for him, but the ex-Beatle won't write on it. "It was sweet of her though - she's American and they don't quite know what it is. I don't take it that seriously." Paul even toyed with the idea of refusing the knighthood.

Linda McCartney has rescued 127 beagle puppies from a terrible fate. The puppies were threatened to be put to sleep by their bankrupt West England dog breeders, or were to be sold to a research laboratory.
Instead of this, the wife of ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney lured them away with 24,000 German Marks ($13,745). The puppies are now safe in two public animal shelters. They can look forward to continue safely sniffing in the future. The McCartneys will bear the costs to guarantee it.

Nachdem John Lennon im Sep-
tember '69 seinen Ausstieg
aus der Band verkündet hat-
te, zog sich Paul erschüt-
tert in sein Haus in Schott-
land zurück. "Ich erlebte
eine wirkliche üble Zeit.
Ich lag manche Nacht im Bett
und zitterte. Einmal wachte
ich auf und konnte meinen
Kopf nicht vom Kissen erhe-
ben. Ich dachte, ich würde
einfach ersticken."

The break-up of the Beatles nearly caused him to suffer a nervous breakdown - this Paul McCartney has just disclosed for the first time.
In September, 1969 after John Lennon announced he was leaving the band, Paul retired in shock to his home in Scotland. "I went through a really bad time. I spent many nights trembling in my bed. One night I awoke and I couldn't lift my head off the pillow. I thought I would simply suffocate."

MONTSERRAT-GALA IN LONDON
In London gaben sich in der
vergangenen Woche Stars wie
Elton John, Eric Clapton, Paul
McCartney und Phil Collins ein
hochkarätiges Stelldichein in
der dortigen Royal Albert Hall.
Anlaß war eine Benefizgala
zugunsten der Bewohner der
Karibikinsel Montserrat, die
seit einem Ausbruch des
dortigen Vulkans in ihrer
Existenz bedroht sind.
Alle Künstler, die an diesem
Abend auftraten, suchten ihre
eigenen Lieblingssongs aus.
Für Sting war die Teilnahme an
dem Projekt eine Ehrensache:
"Es ist immer schwer, bei so
etwas 'nein' zu sagen, aber in
diesem Fall ist es so, daß
jeder von uns schon in
Montserrat gearbeitet und von
der Umgebung profitiert hat."
Am 25. Juni dieses Jahres
hatten tausende Bewohner der
Insel bei einem verheerenden
Vulkanausbruch ihre Unterkunft
verloren. Da Montserrat für
viele Musiker einen Ort der
Inspiration darstellt, mußte
der Veranstalter des Festivals,
Ex-Beatles-Produzent George
Martin, die Mitwirkenden nicht
lange überreden.
Beim großen Finale liefen alle
Superstars noch einmal zur
Hochform auf, um gemeinsam
einen der größten Beatles-
Klassiker zu präsentieren.
Insgesamt erwarten die
Veranstalter des Benefizgigs
allein über die Erlöse der
Eintrittskarten und
Fernseheinnahmen fast drei
Millionen Mark, die den Opfern
zugute kommen.

Montserrat Gala in London
In London last week, such top-flight stars as Elton John, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and Phil Collins had a rendezvous at the Royal Albert Hall. The occasion was a benefit to assist the residents of the Caribbean island of Montserrat whose existence has been threatened by the eruption of a volcano.
All the artists performed their favorite songs that evening. For Sting, it was an honor to participate: "It is always difficult to say 'no' to something, but in this case it was especially so, because each of us had worked in Montserrat and had profited from the surroundings."
On June 25 of this year, the homes of thousands of residents of the island were devastated by a volcano eruption. Montserrat represented a place of inspiration for many musicians, they had staged music festivals there, and they did not hesitate when ex-Beatles producer George Martin persuaded them to become involved.
During the finale, all the superstars appeared in top form as they joined together to perform one of the greatest Beatle classics. The organizers of the benefit expect the proceeds from ticket sales and television earnings to total almost 3 million German Marks (over $1,700,000) to aid the victims.

The conflict began with vegetarian program supporter Paul over the government chief's favorite recipe for stuffed pig stomach. "We think that unnecessary suffering is afflicted in order to place this recipe on his plate."

Jagger zum ersten Haschisch-
Konsum verleitet. Barry Mi-
les enthüllt in seiner Bio-
graphie über den Ex-Beatle,
daß er 1964 in einem New

Who would have thought: Of all people, it was Paul McCartney who first tempted wild man Mick Jagger to smoke pot. Barry Miles discloses in his biography of the ex-Beatle that Paul tried it for the first time in a New York hotel in 1964. He quotes Paul with the words, "We were kind of proud to have been introduced to pot by Bob Dylan." Two years later he turned Jagger on to pot. The biography "Many Years From Now" will be released in October.
