In 1993, 16 albums were released in digitally remastered
form in the U.K. (and elsewhere, but NOT in the U.S.A.!). All were remastered by Abbey
Road engineer Peter Mew, who skillfully used No-noise processing to varying degrees. The resulting CDs generally are often much better than the previous CDs (e.g. Band On The Run). Note that the processing was done very skillfully, that is tape noise was not always totally removed (which would have produced artifacts like opening/closing noise gate filters, and would have caused loss of high frequencies). The results are in most cases as good as the expensive "gold" DCC CDs. The albums now feature original cover art, and 10 of the 16 albums include newly added bonus tracks (many unavailable on CD elsewhere). |
